"Three

 Little Ai'
 Lambs"

 Musical Comedy in Two Acts,

the libretto by R. A. Baruet,

 famous as the author of

" 1492 " and "Jack and the Beanstalk",

which comes direct from an engagement

of fifty nights at the Fifth Avenue Theatre, New York, and will be

 presented here at the

 OPERA HOUSE

 Saturday, March lOth,

is written in a more ambitious vein than the popular author has here-
tofore attempted and might constitute the book of the most romantic
of romantic operas, but, as developed, only the humorous phases are
presented. Mirth, therefore, rather than sentiment is excited by his
recital of the adventures of a devoted young man, who, at the behest
of his sweetheart, forfeits a fortune, enters the navy, and goes to
Puerto Rico to fight for his country. The plot also concerns the
atrocious processes of David Tooke, Hungry Jim, and Phyllis, known
to the police as " The Three L,ittle I,ambs," a recklessly crooked trio.
Odd humor manifests itself throughout the piece in c.ll sorts of unex-
pected places, and the fads of the day are gently but none the less
cleverly satirized. For instance, the " advanced woman " question is
gently touched in the introduction of a bank with the feminine direc-
torate completely under the control of a wily confidence man. The
prevailing '^raze of golf is recognized by the advent of a golfing con-
tingent headed by President Bulger and Secretary Putter, of the St.
Ananias Golf Club, who have the most extraordinary scores to report

 4--

whenever occasion arises. Other fads are touched upon in an equally
deft manner, though an occasional audaciously extravagant episode
proves that the author is able when so inclined, of dealing heavy
strokes at contemporary follies and foibles.

 r+.)

 THE MUSIC

By E. W. Corliss, is bright and tuneful throughout,
and of that catchy sort that clings to the memory.

The organization is a notable one, including many favorites, and
consists of fifty-five people including Miss Marie Cahill, Mr. Raymond
Hitchcock and Edmund Lawrence, who are irresistibly funny as the
' * Three Little Lambs, * ' and one of the many pleasing features of the en-
tertainment is their burlesque on *' Becky Sharp," which is considered
perfect. Miss Nellie Braggins, as the "Jollity Girl," sing^the " Bug-
aboo Man," assisted by two of the cleverest pickaninnies evf seen.

Miss Clara Palmer, as the sweetheart who forces her lover to for-
feit his legacy, sings the " Man Behind the Gun " and does a bewilder-
 ing dance.

Among others in the cast are Wm. E- Philp as the hero who for-
feits his legacy for love of his sweetheart. Wm. T. Carleton as a dash-
ing cowboy, who, with the assistance of Thomas Rickett, as an Irish
porter, and Messrs. Tom Hadaway and Harold Vizard as President
and Secretary of the St. Ananias Golf Club, together with an excel-
lent ensemble and all the accessories that go to make one of the largest
 organizations on the road.

 The First Act

Is the interior of a Banking
house, run on the 520 per cent,
 basis.

 The Second Act

Is laid in Puerto Rico giving
 opportunity for many pretty
 costumes and effects.
