Within forty-eight hours after their election, the Board of Directors shall meet, and choose from among their number a Chairman, who shall preside at the Meetings of the Board, Avhen tjie r -esident and Vice-Presidents are absent; he shall vote in er.si -, : equal division only ; he shall countersign all drafts on the Tre.-rer, and cheques of that otticer on the Bank, which have been sanctioned by the Board. Article 1.— The Reading- Room shall be open from eight o'clock, A. M., to ten o'clock, P. M., from the 15th March, to the 30th of April ; from seven o'clock, A. M., to ten o'clock, P. M., from the 1st May, to the 31st of October ; and from nine o'clock, A. M., to ten o'clock, P.M., from the 1st of November, to the Uth of March, every day, except Sundays and Christmas day. Article 2.— No conversation shall be allowed in the Reading Room, otherwise than in a whisper. Article 3. — No person shall be permitted to smoke in the Read- ing Room, damage or injure the furniture thereof, or conduct himself in any way inconsistent with decorum. Article 4.— Any person who shall injure or destroy the periodi- cals or papers placed in the Reading Room, shall render himself liable |,o expulsion fron_ the Association. Article f). — Any Member may have the privilege of introducing a friend, not a resident of the city, to the Reading iloom, for the term of four weeks ; and the Superintendent shall cause to be registered in a book, provided for that purpose, the names of all persons thus introduced. Article 6. — All the papers shall be under the sole charge of the Superintendent, and he alone shall have the right of removing them, and no purchaser shall take them from the table ; — Daily papers shall be left on the table for four days ; — Tri- weekly papers, Weekly papers and English papers, shall remain on the table until the arrival of the subsequent mail, but in ary case not less than cue \\ jek.
