 five thoufand four hurulred acres, whicfi for many years has been 
 fenced and ufed by the inhabitants of Vincennes as a common, alio 
 u tract of hmd inchiding the villages of Cohos and Prairie du Pont, 
 and heretolore ufed by the inhabitants of the faid villages as a com- 
 mon, be, and the fame are hereby appropriated to the ufe of the in- 
 habitants of Vincennes and of the faid villages refpeftively, to be 
 ufed by them as a corimon, until otherwife difpofed of by law. 
 
 yhul be it further enacted^ That the Governor of the faid territory 
 be authorized to make a grant of land not exceeding one hundred 
 acres, to each perlbn who hath not obtained any donation of land 
 from the United States, and who, on the firlt day of Auguft, one 
 thoufand feven hundred and ninety, was enrolled in the militia at 
 Vincennes or in the Illinois country, and has done militia duty, the 
 faid land to be laid out at the expenfe of the grantees, and in Cuch 
 form and place as the faid Governor ihall direcf. Provided ncvertheUfs^ 
 That no claim founded upon purchafe or otherwife, fhall be admitted 
 within a tracf ot land heretofore occupied by the Kafkaildanation of 
 Indians, and including their village, which is hereby appropriated to 
 the ufe of the laid Indians. 
 
 And be it further enaded^Thzi two lots of land heretofore in the 
 occupation of the priefts at Cahokia, and fituated near that village, be, 
 and the fame is hereby granted in fee to P. Gibault ; and tiiat a trad of 
 land at [vaikalkia, formerly occupied by the jefuits, be laid off and 
 confirmed to St. Jam Beouvais, who claims the i:\me in virtue of a 
 purchafe thereof. 
 
 And be it further cnafled. That fo much of the acl of Congrefs of 
 
 the twenty-eighth of Auguit, one thoufand {c\t\\ hundred and eighty- 
 
 eieht, as refers to the locations of certain trads of land direded to be 
 run out and reierved for donations, to the ancient iettlers in the 
 
 Illinois country, be, and the fame is hereby repealed, and the governor 
 
 of the faid territory is direded to lay out the fame, agreeably to the 
 
 ad of Congreis ol the twentieth of June, one thoufand feven Iiun-
