 I am requested to solicit the co-operation 6f tlie Cdri>oration of your County, to Petition 
 the Legislature of Canada, in support of the following Resolution, passed by the Corporation of 
 the County of Huron, at the June Session. 
 
 Resolved — That this Council views v;ith great apprehension the action taken by sc many 
 parties, in taking advantage of the Provisions of the Insolvency Act of 1864. It is notorious 
 that numbers, daily increasing, resort to the Act to shirjk their just deb+s, which they might 
 tbxert themselves to pay, had they not so facile a method to relieve themselves from their debts. 
 We view the Act as a legalifjed inducement held out to parties to cheat, and a great means of 
 demoralising numerous people who, otherwise, might be tolerably honest ; and we hold that 
 the Act is conducive of much more evil than good, therefore should bo taken oflf the Statute 
 Books oi the Country. Resolved, That the Warden be requested to Petition the Legislature 
 to have the Insolvency Act repealed, and that the different County Municipalities be request- 
 ed to join in ttie Petition.- Carried.
