NEW WESTMINSTER is beautifully situated on the North bank of the Fraser River, about fifteen miles from its mouth. It has a population of about 8,000 and is steadily growing. Churches, Colleges and Schools are numerous, and it possesses all the con- veniences of a large modern City. Street Railways, Electric Light Plant and a splendid Water System. It is the centre of the Fraser River Fishing Industry, which in itself represents millions of dollars ; and within the City limits are two large lumber mills and an Automatic Can Factory, which together employ a large number of people. The weekly market at New WEvSTMINSTER is frequented by buyers from all the coast Cities, and it is acknowledged by all to be the agricult- ural centre and distributing point for the whole o^ the Lower Fraser. New Westminster is commonly spoken of as "The Royal City," owing to the fact of its having been named by Her Most Gr ^ious Majesty Oueen Victoria. «^ li^ v:7< tJfi iJ^ m ^ •# «y a a Mnwwwf m^ New Westminstf.r, B.
