April 16.— A rise of the river Chateauguay, occasioning the destruction of bridges, and a great numEer of houses, cattle, &c. 26.— Inundation of the river at Berthier, the water spreading over the country for nearly 20 miles, causing great loss and inconvenience to the inhabitants. May 18.— Sir Charles Bagot, late Governor General, died at Kingston, aged 61. 23.— Steamers Lora Sydenham and Queen came in collision, while performing their usual trips between Montreal and Quebec.
