We have paid out for death claims during the year $3,200, and on account of sick benefit scheme $502,50, or a total of $3,702 50, with some claims yet to adjust as soon as the proper papers will be fled. The tax on Commercial Travellers has continued to occupy the attention of your Board, and we are sorry to have to report, that although having gained our suit against the City of Quebec, the case was carried to appeal, and judgment has been rendered against us. Judgment has been rendered in our favour in our suit against the City of Three Rivers. We have arranged for Insurance for another year with the Accident Insurance Company of North America under more favourable conditions than in the past. Your Directors earnestly recommend to their suc- cessors the continuance of the work already begun, regarding the Association doing its own Insurance at as early a day as possible. The By-law Committee appointed at the last Annual Meeting, met often during ihe year, and trusts that the new By-laws, shortly to be placed in your hands, will be found to defme clearly the various duties to be performed, and the way in which they should be carried out, and the Committee hnn^ fViof tu^ DOMINION COMMERCIAL TBAVBLLBRfl' ASSOCIATION. 35 members will make themselves acquainted with the provisions and benefits provided by the Association. The amount of Mortuary Benefit payable to mem- bers of long standing has been largely increased during the past year. In October your Board joined with deputations from our sister Associations to meet the Railway Passenger Agents in »-eference to some changes pro- posed for next year, and we are pleased to be able to report good results from our labours on that occasion. Our relations with the various Railway and Transportation Companies continue, as in the past, harmonious. We regret that during the year we have been obliged to cancel four certificates for abuse of railway pri- vileges. This has arisen in some cases through a member not guarding his certificate with such care as to prevent possession of it being had by other parties. The Rooms of the Association being central and convenient, have been largely used by the members. The Treasurer's statement is herewith presented for your inspection.
