 II est ordonne par ledit Conseil, et NOU3, le dit 
 Conseil, faisons et d^cretons le R6glement suivant: 
 
 1. Que toute personne, 6tant propri^taire ou occu- 
 pant de, Qu ayant sous sa charge aucune maison, b|- 
 
bouae, part of a house, building, lot of ground or part 
 thereof within any part of the said City of Quebec, 
 ahal. neclect to level the snow in front of the same ifM- 
 mediateTy after every fall thereof, or to fil! up and 
 level every cavity or hole called a Cahotf or every 
 heap of ice or snow, opi osite to such house, part of a 
 house, building or lot of ground immediately after the 
 formation of every such cavity, hole or Cahot, heap 
 of snow, or ice, such person shall forfeit and pay for 
 every such offencei a fine or sum of money not less 
 than FIVE Shillings currency, nor more than FORTY 
 Shillings currency. 
 
 2. That if any person being the Proprietor or Oc- 
 cupier, or having the care or management of any 
 bouse, part of a house, building, lot of ground or part 
 thereof, situated within the walls of the said City, or 
 within that part or cuicuit of ihe said City, commen- 
 cing at the Western limits of Saint-Peter's Ward, and 
 extending thence over the Lower Town and Cham- 
 plain Street and its continuation as far as the Toll 
 Gate, or hmit of the City on that side ; and on the 
 other, in Saint-Roch's Ward, over Des Fosses Street, 
 from Saint-Roch's Street as far as Craig Street j and 
 over the whole length of the aforesaid Craig- Street, 
 ihall permit the snow to collect in front cf such house, 
 part of a house, building or lot, to a height exceeding 
 one foot at any time, or shall neglect 10 cause the 
 anow above such height to be placed in heaps and car- 
 • ried away immediately after the fall of the same, such 
 person shall forfeit and pay for every such offense, a 
 fine or sum of money not less than FIVE Shilling* 
 currency, nor more than FORTY Shillings currency ; 
 and for every repetition or continuance of such offense, 
 after the day of conviction thereof, such person shall 
 pay a like fine of not less than FIVE Shillings cur- 
 rency, nor more than FORTY Shillings currency, for 
 each day such snow is allowed to remain in front of 
 such house, part of a house, building lot or part the-

3. That if any proprietor or person occupying or 
 having the care or inanageuient of any house, part of a 
 houfie, building or part of a building, in the said City, 
 
 ^shall aHow the snow to collect, or the ico to form, on 
 •uch house or building, or part thereof to »uch a quan- 
 tity as may make it dangerous for foot paH^engeni, or 
 otheru to pa8«i in front thereof, and shall neglect or Ifail 
 to remove the same, every person so offending Hhall for 
 every such offence forfeit and pny a fine or sum of 
 not less than five shillings and not exceeding forty 
 ihillings. 
 
 4. That all water courses in the streets of the said 
 City shall be made as near as possible to and outiiide 
 the footways, and shall not exceed one foot in width, 
 and any person, being a proprietor or occupier or 
 having the care or management of any house, part of 
 A house, or building lot of ground or part thereof, in 
 front of which such water course shall not be so made, 
 or in front of which he shall not cause the loose ice 
 and other matter, caused by the excavation of such 
 water course, to be immediately carried away, shall 
 forfeit and pay a sum not less than FIVE Shillings 
 currency, nor more than FORTY Shillings currency. 
 
 5. That every person who shall chop or brake up 
 ice* or snow, or cut any water course in any of the 
 streets of the said City, shall submit to euch verbal 
 directions in relation thereto, as he may from time 
 receive from the Surveyor of Hingways or other 
 pv^rson acting on his behalf, and in default of any such 
 person complying with such directions within three 
 houra after such directions shajl have been given him 
 personally, or at his house or domicile by the said 
 Surveyor or other person acting on his behalf, such 
 person shall forfeit and pay a sum of not less than 
 FIVE Shillings currency, nor more than TWENTY 
 Shillings currency. 
 
 6. That it shall be the duty of every person pro- 
 prietor or occupant, or having the care or manage- 
 ment of any ho'ise, part of a house, building, loi of 
 ground or part thereof withi» any part of this City,

 ront faites aussi prds que posbible en dehors du trot- 
 toir, et n'exc^dcfont pas un pied de large, et toute 
 personne qui, 6tant propri6taire de, ou occupant ou 
 ayant gQus sa charge telle maison, partie de niaison, 
 biLtiaae ou emplacement ou partie d*emplacemeni de- 
 vant lesqueis telle rigole ne itera pas faite, ou qui n6- 
 gligera de faire enlever immediatennent la glace ou 
 autres matidres provenant de I'excavation de telle ri- 
 gole, encourra et paiera une amende ou somme qui 
 ne sera pas moindre que CINQ chelins courant, et 
 qui n'excddera pas QUARANTE Chelins courant. 
 
 5. Que toute pcrsonne qui bAchera ou coupera la 
 glace ou la neige, dans aucune des rues de la dite 
 Cit6, se conformera, h ce sujet, i tels ordres ou di- 
 rections verbales qu'elle recevra de temps 4 autre, 
 de I'Inspecteur des Chemins, ou d'une autre personne 
 agissani en son nom, et dans le caa oii telle personne 
 ne se conformerait pas k tels ordres ou directions sous 
 trois heures aprfes que tels ordres ou directions 
 lui auront 6te donn6s personnellement ou laiss^s k 
 son domicile par le dit Inspecteur des Chemins ou 
 autre personne agissant en son nom, telle personne 
 encourra et paiera une somme qui ne sera pas moindre 
 que CINQ Chelins courant, et qui n'exc^dera nas

 6. Qu'il sera du devoir de toute personne, propri^-

 12. That on notice given by the Road Surreyor or 
 •ny person on his behalf, any occupier or proprietor

 or ice frot the footpaths fronting such house or lot of 
 ground, within iwenty-four hours after such notice shaH

 13. That if any person shall, in any of the streetB, 
 equares or public places, within the said City, slide or 
 make any slide upon or in any street, lane or public 
 square within llie t<aid City, on 9mall sleighs, or with 
 skates, or shall piry at the game called Hurley, or 
 throw any snow ball,lunnpof ice, stone or other missi'e 
 in any such street, lune or public square, such person 
 shall pay a fine of FIVE Shillings currency, and be sub- 
 ject to be imprisoned for a period not exceeding thirty 
 days, or until such firie and costs be paid. 
 
 14. That if any person shall allow any horde or horses 
 to be and remain in any of the sireeis, lanes or public 
 places, within the said City, without a fit person being 
 in charge thereof, he shall forfeit and pay a fine not less 
 than FIVE Shillingsj currency, nor more than FORTY 
 Shillings currency. 
 
 15. That if any person shall ride or drive, orcavseor 
 permit to be ridden or driven, harnessed to any winter 
 vehicle, a horse or horses, without causing to be worn 
 by each horse at least two good belH, fastened in such 
 a manner that the sound thereof may be distinctly heard 
 by all persons passing so that ihey, may be warned of 
 the approach of every such horse or horses and avoid 
 the same, such person shall forfeit and pay a fine of 
 TEN Shillings currency, for the first offence, and 
 TWENTY Shillings currency for every subsequent of- 
 fence, recoverable as well against the proprietor of such 
 horse or horses as against the rider or driver of the 
 same. 
 
 16. That the premises in

 capable pour veiller k chaque tel cheval ou chevaux, 
 encourra et paiera une amende qui ne sera pas moindre 
 que CINQ chelins, et qui n'exc^dera pas QUA- 
 RANTE Chelins courant. 
 
 15. Que toute personne montaiit ou menant, ou fe- 
 sant mener attel6s a toute voiture d'hiver quelconque, 
 un cheval ou des chevaux, non munis d>aux moins 
 deux bonnes clochettes ou grelots fixes de telle ma- 
 nidre que le son en puisse 6tre distinctement entendu 
 des personnes allant et venant, afin que par ce 
 moyen elles puissent 6tre averties de I'approche de, et 
 6viter tel cheval ou chevaux, encourra et paiera une 
 p6nalit4 de DIX Chelins courant, pour la premidre 
 offense, et de VINGT Chelins courant pour chaque 
 offense subs^quente, laquelle p6nalit6 sera recou- 
 vrable centre le propri6taire de tel cheval ou che- 
 vaux, ou centre le conducteur d'icelui ou d'iceux.
