1 was not ever thus, nor prayed that Thou 
Shouldst lead me on ; 

I loved to choose and see my path, but now

The night is gone ;

Then the Reader says the following prayer: 
P R A Y E R . 

Come O Holy Ghost fill the hearts of Thy faithful 
people. 

Audience. Enkindle in them the fire of Thy love. 
R. Send forth Thy spirit and they shall be created. 
A. And Thou wilt renew thè face of the earth. 

R. Let Us Pray. 
O God who dost teach the hearts of Thy faithful 

people through the light of the Holy Spirit : grant 
that we may be truly wise " in that same Spirit and 
ever enjoy His consolation. Through Christ our Lord. 

A. Amen. 
The audience is seated while a passage from Holy 

Scripture is read.

Afterwards the following Psalm is recited alternately by 
the audience. 

PSALM 9 9 . 
Reader. 

Sing joyfully unto God, O every land. 
Audience. 

Serve ye the Lord with gladness 
Come before Him with great joy. 

R. Know ye that the Lord Himself is God. 
A. He hath made us and not we ourselves 

We are His people and the sheep of His 
pasture. 

R. Enter His gates with thanksgiving. 
A. Enter His courts with praise, 

Give thanks unto Him. 
R. Praise ye His name for the Lord is sweet. 
A. His mercy is unto everlasting, 

From generation unto generation is His 
truth. 

R. Glory be to Father and to the Son and to the 
Holy Ghost. 

A. As it was in the beginning, is now and ever 
shall be world without end. Amen. 

The audience now stands and sings the Hymn 
LOVING SHEPHERD. 

The good Shepherd giveth his life for his sheep.—John x. 11. 
Loving Shepherd of Thy sheep 

Keep me Lord in safety keep; 
Nothing can Thy power withstand 

None can pluck me from Thy hand. 



Loving Shepherd Thou didst give 
Thine own life that I might live 

May I love Thee day by day 
Gladly Thy sweet will obey.

From the straight and narrow way.

Then before Thy Father's throne

The audience is seated while the address or lectui 
delivered. 
After the lecture the audience rises and sings the hymn

The Lord is my shepherd and I shall want 110thing.—Psalm 2 

My Shepherd is the living God 
I know no craving need; 

He sets me where the green herbs grow 
Along the quiet mead. 

He leads me where the waters flow, 
The waters soft and still, 

And homeward He will gently guide 
My wand'ring heart and will. 

I fear no ill for Thou O Lord 
With me for ever a r t ; | 

Thy shepherd's staff, Thy guiding rod,

Uphold my fainting heart. 
Thy loving mercy still doth wait 

Through all my life on me, 
And I within my Father's house 

Eternally shall be. 
At the close of hymn the audience is seated. The speak-

er will now receive questions from the audience either in 
writing or by word of mouth. Those who desire informa-
tion either on the subject of the lecture or on any other sub-' 
feet of Catholic belief or practice are earnestly invited to 
present their questions at these meetings. 

After the discussion the audience will stand and recite 
the following Psalm and Prayers: 

PSALM 66.

God be merciful unto us and bless us, 
And cause His face to shine upon us and be merci-
ful unto us. 

Audience. 
Let the peoples give thanks unto Thee, O God, 
Let all the peoples praise Thee.

O God, who wiliest that all men should be saved 

and should come unto the knowledge of Thy truth : 
send, we beseech Thee, the laborers into Thy vine-
yard and give them power to speak Thy message 
with all confidence, so that Thy word may run and be

glorified, and all nations may know Thee, the only-
true God and Jesus Christ, Thy Son Whom Thou hast 
sent. 

O God, Who guidest back the feet of them that 
"stray, and gatherest all that are scattered abroad, 
and savest them when they are gathered together; 
pour forth, we beseech Thee, the grace of Thy unity 
upon the Christian people that they may put away all 
divisions and join themselves unto the true Shepherd 
of the Church and thus serve Thee worthily according 
to Thy will. Through Christ our Lord. 

A. Amen. 
R. O Lord hear my prayer. 
A. And let my cry unto Thee. 
R. May the Lord bless you out of Sion and may ye 

«behold the good things of Jerusalem all the days of 
"your life and may ye see your children and your chil-
dren's children, peace upon Israel.
