He was admitted for severe COVID-19 pneumonia with ARDS and AKI requiring CRRT. Veno-venous extracorporeal membrane oxygenation (ECMO) was initiated with no requirements for transfusions but was then abandoned when the patient developed major bleeding. Fresh frozen plasma (FFP) and pooled platelets were transfused but the patient succumbed to multi-organ failure.
