Henderson et al disagree with our proposal for universal COVID-19 24 testing of women admitted to Labor and Delivery. In order to support this position, they cited a 25 CDC report produced in the early stages of the COVID-19 pandemic. 1 However, at that time, 26 testing capacity was limited and the degree of SARS-CoV-2 transmission from asymptomatic 27 patients was uncertain. In addition, that CDC guidance on testing was not exclusive to 28 symptomatic persons; rather, guidance left the decision for testing to "state and local health 29 departments or healthcare providers." 1 Page last 68 reviewed Evidence supporting transmission of severe acute 71 respiratory syndrome coronavirus 2 while presymptomatic or asymptomatic.
