Detailed information on the perioperative and postoperative regimen used (eg, drugs, dosage, and duration) for venous thromboembolism prophylaxis would provide a valuable perspective on the low pulmonary embolism rates reported in this study. As health services worldwide begin to slowly re-establish elective surgical activity, any evidence that contributes to guidance for perioperative and postoperative venous thromboembolism prophylaxis would be of great value. Surgeons are in need of data in this patient group, and the COVIDSurg Collaborative could have provided such evidence. We declare no competing interests.
