As of 23 rd March 2020, a total of 294,110 confirmed cases (12,944 deaths) from 186 countries/territories/areas have been reported to the WHO [2] . The Republic of Korea has 8,961 confirmed cases including 110 deaths, and 3,166 cases released from isolation [3] . In an interim report on 66 deaths from COVID-19 in Korea, the authors reported that the case fatality rate was relatively low at 0.9%. Old age and existing comorbidities were risk factors for death [6] . The last interim report dealt with the attack rate among contacts of COVID-19 cases. The secondary attack rate between January 24 th and March 10th was 0.55% (95% CI 0.31-0.96), while the household contact secondary attack rate was considerably higher at 7.56% (95% CI 3.73-14.26) [7] .
