Tous ces changements étaient basés sur les données épidémiologiques initiales alarmantes avec un risque de décès par COVID-19 cinq fois plus élevé pour les patients atteints de cancer (OR 5,34, IC 95 % 1,80-16,18 ; p=0,0026) [1] . Toutefois, la proportion de femmes atteintes d'un cancer du sein était particulièrement faible dans ces études initiales (3 dans la série chinoise [1] , 27 dans l'étude new yorkaise [5] , 40 dans l'étude brésilienne [6] ). Les publications ultérieures, basées sur de plus grands effectifs, ont été beaucoup plus rassurantes.

Par exemple, Miyashita et al. [7] Quelques mois après le début de la pandémie, de nombreuses sociétés de sénologie de par le monde ont plaidé pour une analyse de l'impact oncologique des changements de prise en charge des cancers du sein pendant la pandémie [4] . En Italie, Vanni et al [11] ont analysé une cohorte multicentrique de 432 patientes afin d'évaluer les répercussions de l'arrêt du dépistage
