In contrast, the COVID-19 clinical and laboratory picture of our patient does not suggest she had encephalitis. In parkinsonism associated with viral infections neuropathology vary from direct acute infection to post-infectious neuroinflammation, both culminating with dopaminergic cell loss. SARS-CoV2 might infect neurons in the CNS through either retrograde axonal transport or hematogenic routes [4] . Our patient probably had direct SARS-CoV2 lesion of the nigro-striatal system [7] . In conclusion, we report a case of levodopa-responsive parkinsonism probably caused by direct SARS-CoV-2 infection, broadening the disease clinical spectrum. This article is protected by copyright.
