Economist to lecture on Social Security

Dean Baker, co-director of the Center for Economic and Policy Research in Washington, D.C., and one of the countrys leading experts on Social Security, will deliver a lecture at 7 p.m. March 30 (Wednesday) in 126 DeBartolo Hall at the University of Notre Dame.

TitledSocial Security: The Phony Crisis,the presentation is free and open to the public.

Baker is co-author of the most widely read policy book on Social Security, also titledSocial Security: The Phony Crisis.He writes the Economic Reporting Review, a weekly online commentary examining economic coverage in The New York Times and Washington Post, and is the author ofGetting Prices Right: The Battle over the Consumer Price Index,which was selected for the Choice Outstanding Academic Book list in 1998.

Bakers lecture is sponsored by Notre Dames Department of Economics and Policy Studies.
