The candle-lighting ceremony is held at the beginning of Easter Vigil Mass held Saturday, March 30.
The culmination of the Easter Triduum is the great Vigil which takes place Holy Saturday night. Following the extended liturgy of the Word, the Elect, the unbaptized, are initiated into the Christian faith through the sacraments of Baptism, Confirmation and the Eucharist. The Vigil Mass, in its entirety, is two and a half hours long.
