“Myths and Marvels,” an afternoon session of folksinging and storytelling for people of all ages, will be held in the University of Notre Dame’s Snite Museum of Art Feb. 9 (Sunday) beginning at 2:30 p.m.p. Three local storytellers will perform in the Snite galleries, making use of folksongs and the surrounding artworks to illustrate their narratives. Linda Canfield will tell a Mayan story, “The Rain Player,” about the ritual ballgame played by the Olmec and Mayan peoples in pre-Columbian America. Mary Jones will tell “Oh and Alas,” an ancient Greek story about a boy and a wizard. Jane Syburg will tell an Iroquois story called “The Boy Who Lived With the Bears.”p.
