A remembrance event in honor of the late Chuck Craypo, professor emeritus of economics at Notre Dame, will be held April 25 (Saturday) at 6 p.m. at the Teamsters Hall, 2405 East Edison Rd., South Bend.
The event, “A Celebration of the Life of Chuck Craypo,” will be hosted by Notre Dame’s Department of Economics and Policy Studies and the Higgins Labor Studies Program.
Craypo, who died last month, was the founding director of the Higgins program, which supports research, teaching, discussion and publication on labor and the economy. A popular professor and former chairman of economics, he did pioneering research on labor relations and frequently testified before congressional committees on labor issues.
“We want people to come and bring their stories, memories, testimonials and reminiscences about Chuck,” said Martin Wolfson, associate professor of economics at Notre Dame and director of the Higgins Program. “We want to celebrate the life of a man who meant so much to all of us.”
A buffet dinner will be provided at the event which is free and open to the public, but those planning to attend are asked to notify Lauri Roberts at 574-631-6335 or lroberts@nd.edu.
