The University of Notre Dame’s Filipino-American Student Organization (FASO) will host its annual cultural celebration, Fiestang Filipino, at 7 p.m. Saturday (April 2) in Washington Hall. It is FASO’s signature spring event, showcasing Filipino dance, dress and food, and is open to the public.
This year’s theme, called “It’s Showtime,” comes from a popular Filipino noontime variety show. The purpose of the show is to capture the charm of Filipino culture in games, competitions, music, dancing, humor and conversation. The structure of the show will be similar to “The Ellen DeGeneres Show,” and will include hosts and audience participation. The show will be an interactive, engaging experience for audience members in addition to immersing them in the Filipino culture. Audience members will have the opportunity to win prizes, including a GoPro camera.
The festivities begin at the South Dining Hall where Notre Dame Food Services will serve Filipino food during the dinner hours of operation. Entrance requires a meal plan or individual meal tickets. Meal tickets can be purchased at the South Dining Hall for $16 (adults) and $8 (children ages 6-12). Fiestang tickets are $3, and all show-ticket proceeds will be donated to support children in the Philippines.
