Father Edward A. Malloy, C.S.C., president of the University of Notre Dame, has been elected to a fifth three-year term on the Board of Regents of the University of Portland and to a five-year term on the board of the University of St. Thomas.p. Portland was founded in 1901 by the Congregation of Holy Cross, which founded Notre Dame in 1842. Located in Oregon’s largest city, it has a student population of more than 2,300 and is the only Catholic university in the state. Portland’s president, Rev. David Tyson, C.S.C., is a Notre Dame trustee and a Fellow of the University.p. St. Thomas is a Catholic liberal arts university with a main campus in St. Paul, Minn., and a secondary campus for graduate business studies in Minneapolis. It was founded in 1885 and enrolls some 10,400 students.p. Father Malloy is in his 10th year as Notre Dame’s president.
