Elshtain joined the University of Chicago faculty in 1995 after previously teaching at the University of Massachusetts and Vanderbilt University.She is the author of 13 books, includingJust War Against Terror: The Burden of American Power in a Violent WorldandDemocracy on Trialand has co-authored or contributed to seven other books.p. The recipient of nine honorary degrees, Elshtain has been a visiting professor at Oberlin College, Yale University and Harvard University, and in 1996 was elected a Fellow of the American Academy of Arts and Sciences.p.
