More than $34,000 in prize money will be awarded April 28 and 29 (Thursday and Friday) in three business plan competitions organized by theGigotCenterfor Entrepreneurial Studies at the University of Notre Dame.
Winners in the McCloskey Notre Dame Business Plan Competition, the Dorothy Dolphin Notre Dame Family Business Plan Competition and the Notre Dame Social Venture Plan Competition will be announced at the McCloskey competition final event from1:30to5:30 p.m.Friday in the Mendoza College of BusinessJordan Auditorium.
The fifth annual McCloskey event will feature six finalists vying for a first-place prize of $15,000. In addition, the McCloskey finalists and the winners of the Social Venture and Dolphin competitions will make presentations to the audience, which will vote to determine the winner of the $3,000 Pace Global Peoples Choice Award.
The fourth annual Social Venture event will feature five finalists with socially oriented business plans competing for prize money of more than $5,000. The competition is co-sponsored by the Master of Science in Administration program inMendoza.
The Dolphin event, now in its third year, is designed to promote and strengthen the development of strategic business plans in family businesses, which, for the purposes of the competition, are defined as existing businesses with family ownership and operational control. A prize of more than $7,000 will be awarded to the winning entrants.
The three Gigot business plan competitions, which drew 100 entries, required participation by at least one Notre Dame student or graduate.
