In this thesis, I began the process of identifying and commenting on the fifteenth century Venetian codex, Notre Dame, University of Notre Dame, Hesburgh Library, cod. Lat. d. 5. The principal focus of my work was a versification of the prose portions of Boethius's *Consolatio Philosophiae* that is contained therein. I argue that the author, Filippo di Zara, composed this work in the second half of the fifteenth century primarily for two reasons. The first was to draw young students back to Boethius in the face of strong criticism from humanists. The second reason was to make a statement about the efficacy and superiority of the scholastic education system that he embraced.
