Metal-organic extended structures were synthesized from metal atoms and polycarboxylic linkers. Three polycarboxylic linkers were used in the synthesis, tetrahydrofuran 2,3,4 tetracarboxylic acid (THFTC), benzenepentacarboxylic acid (BPCA), and benzenehexacarboxylic acid (BHCA). A total of 9 different compounds were synthesized and characterized by single crystal X-ray diffraction. Copper, manganese, and lead formed compounds with THFTC. BPCA formed compounds with zinc, manganese, cobalt, and lead. Cobalt and cerium formed compounds with BHCA.
