This thesis examines the privatization of development and the changing interests, pressures, and demands that have brought NGOs and corporations into collaborative partnerships (NGO-BPs). I propose a new Business Purpose classification for NGO-BPs and examine partnership risk analysis and the building of trust through a case study of an ambitious development project in Sub-Saharan Africa undertaken by Catholic Relief Services and supported through partnership with the Intel Corporation. In the final chapter, I highlight key findings and return to the privatization of development with the benefit of concrete examples.
