Drawing on the literature of profes- sional education and professional identity among academic librarians as well as the literature of teacher education, this study will explore the ways in which academic librarians are introduced to teaching as part of their professional work, the degree to which academic librarians think of themselves as teachers, the ways in which being a teacher has become a significant feature of their professional identity, and the factors that may influence an academ- ic librarian to adopt a “teacher identity” as part of his or her understanding of the librarian’s role on campus. cache/crl-15912.pdf txt/crl-15912.txt
