“What kind o f association do you want ACRL 

to be?” Dadie Perlov first asked the leaders at 
the ACRL leadership session at the ALA Annual 
Conference in Miami.

Now past-president Tom Kirk asks for your 
answers to this question. “As you read the an­
nual report, I ask you to reflect: ‘Is this the 
kind of association I w ant’’ Whatever your an­
swer, I ho p e you will give us the benefit of 
your insight.”

And this year there is a new  way to share 
your ideas with ACRL officers, members, and 
staff—ACRL Forum. ACRL-FRM is the new  un­
m oderated listserv open to all for discussion of 
issues pertinent to ACRL, academic librarian- 
ship, and higher education. Send your thoughts 
about your vision for ACRL to ACRL-FRM. To 
subscribe send the message “Sub ACRL-FRM 
your nam e” to “listserv@uicvm” for bitnet users 
an d  “listserv@uicvm.uic.edu” for Internet users. 
We all look forward to hearing from you.

In this issue w e are also asking your help in 
identifying candidates for the editorship of

College & Research Libraries. The Publications 
Committee will recom m end a new  editor to 
the Board of Directors. The editor-designate 
will w ork with current editor Gloriana St. Clair 
for one year. Application details are given in 
“News from the Field.” If you d o n ’t w ant to 
apply but know  someone w ho would be a good 
candidate, please take a m om ent to nominate 
that individual by sending his/her name to Rich­

Racial & Ethnic Diversity column. Debbie served 
o n  ACRL’s Racial & Ethnic Diversity Commit­
tee for the past four years and is the head of 
current periodicals/microforms at Arizona State

originated the column and ably served as its 
editor.
