G l e n d a D e B r o f f has been selected as the first recipient of the Elva S. Smith Schol­ arship to be awarded annually by the graduate school of library and information science at the University of Pittsburgh. M r s . C a t h r i n e E r s t o n was appointed as a reference librarian in the Syracuse Univer­ sity libraries effective October 27, 1969. M i l d r e d F r a n k e p is now social science li­ brarian in the Bureau of Governmental Re­ search and Service library at the University of Oregon. R o b e r t W. G e t t y accepted appointment effective November 1, 1969, as operations manager of the Audiovisual Media Center at the University of Oregon library. M r s . J u d i t h R. H a r d i n g has accepted an appointment as reference librarian for docu­ ments in the document and microtext division in Widener Library at Harvard. L a o n a K a y H a r r i s has joined the staff of the library of the State University of New York at Stony Brook as a senior cataloger. M r s . I d a b e l V. H a t h o r n is now assistant cataloger in the Melville Library at the State University of New York at Stony Brook. M a r y E. P. H e n d e r s o n has accepted a po­ sition as visiting professor at the school of li­ brary science of the University of Alberta. She will teach in the areas of literature of the hu­ manities and academic librarianship. S a r a M c C a i n was appointed associate curator and cataloger of manuscripts in the Syracuse University libraries. A b b a s M a z a h e r has accepted a position as director of the Tehran Book Processing Cen­ tre. R i c h a r d A a r o n M e a d has been named as­ sistant executive officer of The New York Pub­ lic Library. His duties will be primarily con­ cerned with work in increasing public under­ standing and support of The New York Public Library. J o h n J. M i s k e l l has been appointed to the library catalog staff at Northeast Missouri State College, Kirksville. M a u r i c e R. M o n t g o m e r y , J r ., is assistant librarian for collection development in the school of education library at Harvard. H a r r y N e w s o m has joined the staff of the school of library science of the University of Alberta as public library specialist. M a r y J. O ’B r i e n is assistant acquisition li­ brarian in the law school library at Harvard. E l i z a b e t h P e t r o has accepted a position as ataloger in the Syracuse University libraries.
