Theory and Method in Biosciences Theory and Method in Biosciences Menu Skip to content Home People Research Publications Events News Contact Home Theory and Method in Biosciences group applies the philosophy of science to contemporary biological and biomedical research. It aims to add value by removing conceptual and methodological roadblocks to the advancement of science and by using high level biological theory, particularly an evolutionary perspective, to promote a more integrative approach to research questions. T&MB is a research group within the Charles Perkins Centre, University of Sydney, headed by ARC Laureate Fellow Paul Griffiths and funded by the Australian Research Council, and the John Templeton Foundation. Our work contributes to Charles Perkins Centre’s integrative approach to research on non-communicable diseases (NCDs). We aim to harness the integrative potential of biological theory, and particularly evolutionary theory, in application to NCDs. A key methodology is to form interdisciplinary teams of scientists and philosophers whose combined expertise allows us to address otherwise intractable questions. July 2019.
