The CDP union catalog will provide access to the entire range of subject terms used by participating institutions and will do so without an authority control system. The term list is being generated from subject headings in the Prospector database, which is a union catalog reflecting the collections and holdings of sixteen major public and academic research libraries in Colorado and Wyoming. As with the subject list, the user has the option of searching the Prospector catalog from the CDP data entry system to retrieve names or to use the name list. The CDP proposes to map the subject terms in the Heritage database to Dewey Decimal Classification numbers.
