In July 2003, WTTC revealed its Blueprint for New Tourism that proffered the statement 'which issues a call to action for both government and the industry to make several long-term commitments to ensure the prosperity of travel and tourism -one of the world's largest industries, responsible for over 200 million jobs and over 10 per cent of global GDP (Gross Domestic Product)'.
