We suggest that student nurses need to be supported to learn to better regulate their emotions through self-care practices to prevent distress and burnout, particularly within the context of this global pandemic. It is important to acknowledge that additional interventions may be needed depending on other issues in an individual student's life and, whilst we are promoting an embedded curriculum approach that incorporates self-awareness and self-care strategies, there will be times when professional therapy or support is required.
