CONCLUSION: The auditory display in combination with real-time animation of the process of translation and transcription provide a unique insight into the large body of evidence describing the metabolism of the RNA genome. Audio generated from each of these sequence motifs and metadata were combined to create a complex auditory display to represent either transcription or translation. High resolution analysis of gene expression in Coronavirus genomes has detected ribosome protected fragments which map to non-canonical ORF's, these may be novel protein-coding ORFs and short regulatory uORFs. The tool highlights the occurrence of one such uORF of 30 nucleotides (including the stop codon) in the 5′ untranslated region downstream of TRS1 [35] that is not documented in the GenBank metadata.
