Assessing impacts of SARS and Avian Flu on international tourism demand to Asia 2008-01-07 .txt text/plain 7254 328 53 In order to estimate the impacts of epidemic diseases including SARS and Avian Flu on tourism demand in most Asian affected countries, the methodology of the ARMAX model is adopted in our study. The monthly data for international tourist arrivals are collected from statistical datasets for each country, and the probable numbers of SARS-infected patients and the confirmed human cases of Avian Flu are obtained from the World Health Organization (WHO, 2006 Furthermore, the ARMA and ARMAX models are estimated by using nonlinear least squares estimators, while dynamic panel models are implemented by using the panel GMM technique. Table 3 presents the results of the ADF tests for the three series, including tourism demand, namely, international tourist arrivals, the probable SARS-infected patients and the number of confirmed cases of Avian Flu. The ADF test statistics are compared with the critical values from the nonstandard Dickey-Fuller distribution at the 5% significance level. ./cache/cord-343808-uqhiyj56.txt ./txt/cord-343808-uqhiyj56.txt
