The patient received empirical treatment with ciprofloxacin and metronidazole without any improvement. Microbiological stool examinations were negative, also for SARS-CoV-2 rRT-PCR test. April 29 th , the study was completed with an ileo-colonoscopy with ileal biopsy. The mucosa of ileum and colon was macroscopically normal, and the biopsy showed no damage. However, RT-PCR test on ileal tissue was positive for SARS-CoV-2 RNA. We repeated the SARS-CoV-2 rRT-PCR test on nasopharyngeal swab and it again came back negative. The patient improved over the next few days without any specific treatment.
