The RNA-dependent RNA polymerases (RdRp) of the (+)strand RNA viruses are targeted to the cytoplasmic face of membrane-bound organelles and subsequent assembly of the replicase complex induces membrane curvature and the formation of densely packed membrane vesicles (reviewed in [1, 2] ) ( Figure 1 ). This suggests that replication may take place on CM and that genomes are transferred to vesicular packets for envelopment and budding, while excess viral RNA may be stored in DMVs.
