It has also been suggested that chronic cGAS/STING activation induced by self DNA may be responsible for induction of aberrant inflammatory diseases like systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE), Aicardi-Goutières syndrome (AGS), and polyarthritis (Barber, 2015; Crowl et al., 2017) .
