Furthermore, in the context of specific research questions, polyclonal antisera may sometimes even be preferred over monoclonal antibodies since they contain a mixture of immunoglobulin molecules, derived from different B-cell lines in the immunized animal, often recognizing multiple epitopes of the target protein.
