They identified 191 cases in hospitalized patients younger than 21 years of age, reported by hospitals in the New York State with the diagnosis of Kawasaki disease, toxic shock syndrome, myocarditis, and suspected multisystem inflammatory syndrome associated with COVID-19 in children (MIS-C). The laboratory diagnosis of COVID-19 are based on the detection of viral RNA by real time amplifications (RT-PCR) 40 or the detection of antibodies (immunoglobulins) anti-SARS-CoV-2 from the classes IgM, IgA and IgG, produced by the host's immune system.
