Viral pathogens causing acute gastroenteritis include Rotavirus (RV), members of the Caliciviridae family such as Norovirus (NoV) and Sapovirus (SaV), Adenovirus (HAdV) and Astrovirus (HAstV) (Eckardt and Baumgart, 2011) .
