Even though it is usually a mild and self-limiting disease, hMPV can potentially cause severe lower respiratory infections, especially in young children, the elderly, and immunocompromised patients [3] [4] [5] [12] [13] [14] . Several studies have reported outbreaks due to hMPV in long-term care facilities (LTCF) for the elderly and described the high incidence of pneumonia [3] [4] [5] [14] [15] [16] [17] .
