CONCLUSION: Our study demonstrates that respiratory adenovirus infections are an important cause of hospitalization in young children, and contribute to a significant morbidity. The study was performed to more fully characterize the epidemiological pattern, clinical features and complications associated with hospitalization for adenoviral infection in Korean children. Adenovirus was associated with a wide variety of diagnoses, ranging from upper respiratory tract infections (URTI) to severe pneumonia and encephalitis ( Table 1 ). 22 reported that 70% of hospitalized children with adenoviral infection had pneumonia, while our results revealed a significant proportion of patients (45.4%) with URTI.
