Results Multivariate analysis confirmed the strong role of performing chest compression (or intubation, which is highly correlated), contact with respiratory secretion, and emergency care experience as risk factors to acquire SARS infection. Measures to prevent nosocomial infection included establishing isolation wards for triage SARS patients; training and monitoring hospital staff in infection-control procedures; active and passive screening of HCWs; enforcement of droplet and contact precautions; and compliance with the use of PPE. In summary, this study identified exposure to high-risk procedures (such as chest compression), and contact with respiratory secretions to be significant risk factors for SARS infection among HCWs in a hospital in Beijing. ./cache/cord-023463-vr6uaw3a.txt ./txt/cord-023463-vr6uaw3a.txt
