In our patient, the most likely cause of the pericardial effusion was infection with tuberculosis. To summarize, this patient's recent immigration, symptoms of intermittent fever and of chronic cough that failed to respond to outpatient antibiotics, and development of large pericardial effusion all are consistent with a diagnosis of tuberculosis. ./cache/cord-009507-l74c9x0n.txt ./txt/cord-009507-l74c9x0n.txt
