We analysed cases of laboratory-confirmed RSV infection during three consecutive influenza seasons (2012/13, 2013/14 and 2014/ 15), in a post hoc analysis of patients hospitalized with ILI in the FLUVAC study. Covariates with a p value <0.2 in univariate analysis were tested in the multivariate model, namely age (considered as a continuous variable), chronic heart disease, chronic respiratory disease, cancer (solid and haematological malignancies), diabetes, chronic renal failure, immunosuppressive treatment, RSV infection, influenza virus infection, and influenza vaccination. Respiratory syncytial virus was associated with significant morbidity: the median length of hospital stay was 9 days; 15% (8/ 53) of RSV-infected patients were admitted to the intensive care unit, and 8% (4/53) died. ./cache/cord-341260-vxsbv8t9.txt ./txt/cord-341260-vxsbv8t9.txt
