In addition, several trichomonad species are of veterinary importance, such as the avian pathogens Trichomonas gallinae, Tetratrichomonas gallinarum, and Histomonas meleagridis [16] [17] [18] [19] , and Tritrichomonas foetus, the causative agent of a venereal disease in cattle [20] .
