Demographic variables collected include name, age, sex, home address, employment, flight group, travel route, date of arrival into Saudi Arabia, and cause of death (if any), according to the hospital medical record or flight doctor death certificate. Public health surveillance was conducted as the morbidity and mortality surveillance in Hajj by the Indonesian public health authorities accompanying pilgrims to Saudi Arabia with daily reporting of hospitalizations and deaths.
