Position statement from the Brazilian Society of Nephrology regarding chloroquine and hydroxychloroquine drug dose adjustment according to renal function	2020-08-26		.txt	text/plain	962	57	47	On the first day of April 2020, Informative Note nº 6/2020-DAF/SCTIE/MS was published, establishing that the Brazilian Ministry of Health (MS) would make the medications available for use, in confirmed cases and at medical criteria, chloroquine and hydroxychloroquine as adjunctive therapy in the treatment of severe forms in hospitalized patients, without other supportive measures being neglected in their favor 1 . On April 6, the MS published "Guidelines for the diagnosis and treatment of Covid-19", in which it also instructed on the use of chloroquine and hydroxychloroquine as adjuvant therapy in severe forms of the disease, in confirmed cases and upon medical discretion 2 . Given the above and the associated risks, the Brazilian Society of Nephrology advises its associate doctors to prescribe one of these drugs according to the recommendations established by CFM and MS, which recommend a 50% reduction in the recommended dose of chloroquine and hydroxychloroquine in patients with glomerular filtration rate <10 mL/min/1.72 m 2 , in dialysis or conservative treatment.	./cache/cord-348245-pf5mlzrw.txt	./txt/cord-348245-pf5mlzrw.txt
