More specifically, PubMed was interrogated with a series of queries aimed at identifying references that relate to COVID-19/SARS-CoV-2 and the detection of viral genomic material in blood, plasma, or serum. From this screen, 23 references reporting any data or stating any information on the detection of SARS-CoV-2 genomic material in human blood, plasma, or serum, were selected ( Table 2) .
